(Fbi.gov, 2010) Some people are afraid to report hate crimes because of fear or retaliation against them and their family. I am of mixed heritage myself and I am in a relationship with a Caucasian man. We once lived in a very urban community where Caucasian’s were practically nonexistent. African American men were throwing bottles at our car and racist slurs were used to describe us as a couple. Since I was pregnant were afraid to report the crime. Occurrences that happen are sometimes not even labeled as hate crimes but disorderly conduct. Reverse Racism crimes are almost never heard of in the news. In the urban neighborhoods you are viewed either as African American or Caucasian not both. President Obama put down in the 2008 census that he was an African American male. Instead of correcting society and saying no he biracial it was easier to claim his African American heritage. African Americans announce him as the first black president when he is indeed of mixed race. Being biracial is hard because you are rarely accepted for who you are but more of what you look like. My daughter looks “white” and I was made to put Caucasian as her race instead of mixed. With having a mixed president we should now live in a time where you can claim to be multiracial and not have to claim one side of your heritage …show more content…
Racism was once thought of as whites hating blacks, Now Reverse Racism affects Caucasians and Interracial couples as well. Our president himself even acknowledges himself as an African American because in America we still go by the father's race. Multiracial children are still viewed and labeled as one race or another. Even through all of our technological advancements color is still an issue. Some families still cannot accept another race into their family because of the past. White people and their families are being targeted not for who they are but for the mistakes some Caucasians made decades ago. Racism has to be stopped on both sides so we all can live in
