The Salem witch trials happened in 1692 after a group of three girls in the village were accused of having been possessed by an evil spirit that they believed was inflicted upon them by the women who practiced witchcraft in the village. Like most of the societies in the ancient history and the current world, the act of witchcraft was and still is considered a harmful practice. Thus many communities would fight against it today. Because, witchcraft was considered an abomination, Salem village had to do all it could to eradicate the vice from their community. According to Summers (2014), the presence of witchcraft in the region of Salem is attributed to different ideas with the most influential one being cold weather theory. With reference to this method, the Salem case is related to the cold weather and the people’s struggle to blame any hardship they face.
