This compelling novel; Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D.Taylor tells the eventful and intriguing story of an African-American Family in the 1930’s. This family (the Logans) go through many vigorous and racist events. Such as a family member getting shot, and a racist, narcissistic, White man agonizing Black people in their town. But what could be the source of some of these awful and heart wrenching events? Revenge. There are many examples in this novel where revenge will not make things even, or right, it will just escalate the problem. In this book there are many times where getting back at someone not only amplifies the problem, but can also possibly endanger lives.
One example of when revenge only makes thing worse is when T.J. tells the Wallaces about how bad a teacher Mama is as payback, he ends up losing his only true friends.
