The author changes and reveals the obstacle to foster hero growth throughout a story. Revealing Loki as the obstacle in the movie Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh, made the hero overcome pride, grow emotionally stable, and reclaim his dominance. Fate and time were similarly revealed by the authors of Around the world in 80 day's Jules Verne, and The od ssey's Holmer.This helped transform the hero by establishing self-control, emotion, and the true meaning of life within the characters.
Branagh uses Loki as a perfect Foil and obstacle to Thor, which helps foster Thor's growth by making him overcome his pride yet, having to focus on Homecoming. Thor has to become an honest and tactful leader before he can be worthy of his hammer, which means overcoming his needs/wants to sacrifice for others. In order to defeat Loki, he must learn that patience is key, which thor doesn't already have. "I don't know what happened on Earth to make you so soft! Fogg has always been a rational and closed man, but throughout the book, nature, fate and time showed him love and what life is really living for. As he started seeing life, it satisfied his pride through the wager and he learned never to give up. One of his major issues that grew away was that he needed to have control and containment of things that were happening around and to him.An example of fate, helping him grow is that he has a knack for detail, but as shown, the train leaving for Liverpool left before they arrived at the station. This makes Fogg have to think of another way to cross the Atlantic Ocean instead of just falling apart from anger.
