I hold myself accountable in both my personal and professional life in multiple ways. First, I am advancing my education by working towards completing the baccalaureate degree of science in nursing (BSN). Second, I keep up with the latest evidenced-based practices; and advancements in healthcare and technology through continuing education. Additionally, I ensure my personal life and professional practice are in alignment with the latest nurses’ code of ethics and scope and standards of practice (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2015a; ANA, 2015b). Despite being a critical care nurse for over ten years I have neglected to obtain the American Associations of Critical Care Nurses’ (AACN) certification for adult critical care nurses (CCRN), which, in addition to the BSN, I noted in prior self-assessments and am taking steps to obtain. I am also a member in multiple associations, including AACN, ANA, and American Association of Holistic Nursing, which helps me network with other members as well as take continuing education courses they
