A skills section is an optional portion of a resume that can be beneficial when looking for a nanny position. Including this section in your resume depends on what unique skills you have that will benefit you while tending children. When writing a resume skills section it's important to determine if your skills will best be presented as part of your summary section or on their own.

Should You Include a Skills Section in your Nanny Resume

Most employers spend just six seconds when scanning resumes to determine interview candidates. Because of this, showing your best attributes in the uppermost portion of your resume is extremely important so employers don't miss out reading important skills that will benefit their children.

These attributes and skills can all be included in your skills section. When writing a resume skills section, research and include important keywords that parents look for when searching resumes.

The ages of children that you work well with, emergency training, communication and negotiation skills that will assist you when working with unruly children, experience working with special needs children or children with learning disabilities, hobbies that will allow you to play and be creative with your charges and a great driving record are all important childcare skills to include in your skills section.

For example, if you are incredibly organized, this skill shows parents that your will be able to keep track of important paperwork, develop routines and schedules for the children and will be able to manage your time well in order to get the children to their required activities. Including "Highly Organized" in your skills section shows employers you can keep track of their children's needs and
