Restroom Argumentative Essay

Although many of my peers would disagree, I think the transgender/sexual should have the right to use the restroom of the gender they identify with or have an alternate choice. Many could argue that it’s risky and dangerous, but imagine you were in the same position as a trans person. Some people may even agree with introducing unisex/neutral facilities. The dangers of a person of the opposite sex using the restroom they choose are very obvious, but is every person out to harm others in the bathroom? Transgender people should not be kept from using their preferred facilities because cisgender individuals fear they are sexual predators. In my opinion, this would give a viable option for those who are uncomfortable with sharing a restroom. The large portion of the world’s population identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, and they are content using the restroom of their biological gender. For those who struggle with the transgender community, we should have an alternative restroom option. When someone is using the bathroom, comfort is a very important issue. Having gender neutral facilities would provide everyone a choice of comfort. The transgender community should have the right to use the restroom of the gender they identify with or have an alternate option. Trans individuals deserve the right acquire a comfortable, safe place to go to the restroom just as any other person. Yes, it could possibly be a dangerous liability, but with more knowledge and education regarding the transgender community, the likelihood of violence could plummet. A safe alternative to gender specific restrooms for the LGBT community would be to have the option of a gender neutral/unisex
