Restorative yoga and massage I absolutely love inviting friends to do yoga with me. So, I invited my friend who inspired me to go back to school and has been so excited to learn about where I am doing my internship. I thought it would be a gift to her to come try a free restorative yoga class. On our way over to Omaha Integrative Care main location we talked the whole time, caught up about life, and I did my best to answer her questions about OIC services. When we arrived at OIC we were graciously greeted by Ruth, our yoga instructor. Immediately we felt welcomed and embraced by Ruth’s smile and nurturing presence. My friend also asked Ashleigh all about other services, especially massage. We jovially headed up to our room for yoga to discover our yoga mats set-up with bolsters, blocks, blankets, an eye pillow, and music. Ruth asked if we would be okay with some massage during the class. “Yes!!” We both looked at each other and smiled. What a treat to have yoga and massage. Then, Ruth asked each of us if we were …show more content…
I maneuvered into my first pose and put my eye mask on. Immediately I felt ready to embrace the relaxation. Ruth started a guided meditation and teaching us our breathing for the rest of the class. The breathing technique could be taken off the mat to help when insomnia occurs at home. Ruth guided us and then we continued the breathing technique on our own. As I am surrendering to the relaxation Ruth came over and massaged my hands. I felt complete relaxation bliss and total gratitude for the gift of massage. We did this for each pose throughout the class and Ruth massaged each of us for each pose. By the end of class I had received massaging on my hands, feet, neck, shoulders and forehead. The best was when Ruth did a pressure point on my ear lobes. Once in a while I would sneak a peek at my friend who appeared to be completely relaxed and

Zion’s piece, “Indian Restorative Healing”, discusses and brings to light the important role indigenous people have and can continue to have in restorative justice practices. He also mentions the role western individualism plays in our current society’s structure of justice. Solving conflict is complex, emotional, psychological; that is just a fact of human nature. Therefore, when conflicts are so intricate, the fix or method to solution must mirror those human aspects. Today it seems that many ways to resolution in conflict is strictly material.…

No plagiarism detected We were a high strung group of kids and more often than not my teacher would walk into class with us in tow crying our eyes out for what ever reason. Whether we were stressed out or just having a bad day we never failed to cry at least once a week in AP World History class. Because of this my wonderful teacher came up with a solution. He proposed that since we were a bunch of cry babies who could barely make it through a quiz before the water works started up that everyday at the end of class we would meditate.…

Also the benefits massage brings is that, Massages improves a person’s immune system; it also improves circulation, increasing the flow of oxygen to and nutrients to cells and tissues, this is important because if for instance someone is a smoker it can mean that this individual can still get a massage without having difficulty breathing. Therefore if a patient receives a massage it wouldn’t affect the individual in any way which is a positive aspect, unless he has some sort of irritation to the oils. Massaging helps the circulation of the body and helps a client physically, mentally as it can be a form of distressing mechanism. Massaging would allow clients to feel less anxious and he/she wouldn’t feel so stressed. If regular massages were done, the individual would feel less depressed and it would allow them to feel better about themselves.…

Today’s goal was to introduce me to the site, the people that work in my department, the resources available to workers, and current projects. My volunteer supervisor, Geraldine Baptist, showed me around the hospital, specifically where I would normally sign in and sign out, the cafeteria, and the Occupational/Physical therapy outpatient department. Upon arrival at the OT/PT department, Ms. Baptist introduced me to the front desk secretary, Mauracell, a sweet, openhearted young lady. Mauracell warm welcoming made me extremely comfortable, and all anxiety was put to ease. Mauracell showed me around the office and work center, then introduced me to each person present and gave me a description of what types of things they work on.…

Volunteering as a Health Scholar at Riverside Community Hospital has given me any opportunities to go above and beyond for patients. During my rotation as a Patient Experience Ambassador, I was able to go into each room on the Telemetry floor and make sure each patient was as comfortable as possible while being able to talk to and get to know a few of them. One specific patient, however, seemed to be having a bad time but would never ask for anything because he did not want to bother the staff. I took this opportunity to make sure he was comfortable by checking with him every 30 minutes to see if I could help him adjust in the bed, could get him something to drink and even just talk to him. Eventually he did ask me for a newspaper and I searched…
