No matter how hard people try to ignore the thought of the end of the world, it eventually gets brought up in conversations, or in this case a book. In the book 2012 and the End of the World, Matthew Restall and Amara Solari laid down the fact that the commotion over the world ending on December 21st, 2012, is simply because of previous Mayan experts misinterpretating some ancient evidence. Restall and Solari studied what was left of Monument 6 from El Tortuguero, the ruined Mayan document that ended up starting this frenzy of worry, and because of the broken and missing pieces, they had to resort in studying other documents that may hint or mention the same topic of the world ending in 2012. Not only to inform people to not worry about the false interpretations, but to remind people to look more into the situation, and not believe everything you read on the internet. 2012 and the End of the World, was a well written and thought out book. Restall and Solari had proof not that the world wasn’t going to end, but that all other research that had been done, could simply not be true. Without the evidence, Restall and Solari would have just been another commentator on the millions that had already discussed the topic. Last of all, the authors connect the relationship between the biblical rapture, and the apocalypse. This is another reason of many that the topic was so dramatic. Christians, or any religion regarding a rapture, or a sudden end to the world was infuriated, yet intrigued.
