One of the most important things to do when managing a successful classroom, is to include the parent in the child's learning experience. There are many ways to accomplished this. First, and foremost, I would want to make sure the parent knows exactly how the child is performing in the class. In order to make sure the parent is awake, I would do many things. I would make sure that whatever goes on during class, good or bad, is relayed to the parent. This can include a call, note, or a conference with the parent. I feel like it is most important to inform the parent when their child is not succeeding in class, or when the child is acting out during class. This video is described as "a conversation with the authors of the What Every Teacher Needs to Know books", make specifically for first-year teachers (Responsive Classroom, 2011). In this video, both Mike Anderson and Margaret Berry Wilson talk about their differentiating experiences when dealing with parents. Anderson first talks about his experience with parents, saying that dealing with these parents would have had "a little bit of advice and coaching around how to interact with parents in a good way" (Responsive Classroom, 2011). Wilson then comes in with her experience, which is completely different than Anderson's.
