Mother Irene As A Responsible Role Model

Improved Essays
In today's world, society, especially in Egypt and the middle east, is filled with more violence, abhorrence, and crime. The confusion of what is right and wrong can be inflicted onto a child's set of morals. When a child has someone older to look up to he/she is able to take in and learn positive values from a responsible role model. These role models can inspire and encourage faith and hope to these nation’s youths. Mother Irene isn’t well known, but she had a definite effect to her community and the citizens of Egypt. She dedicated her life to make her country a better place, cared for people unselfishly, worked to change the lives of all who met her, and contributed tremendously to the spread of peace and tolerance in Egypt.

When she was walking in the streets one day with food to bring with her to the monastery, she saw a family of homeless people. Mother Irene gave the homeless family the food and whatever money she had. This is a salient lesson that she taught to the people and it describes how a person shouldn’t be selfish and think of others as their own self, even if the person violated the beliefs of his/her religions. Mother Irene referenced The Bible, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” As Egypt continued the towering government restrictions on religion as well as high social hostilities involving religion, Mother Irene did not give up on her goal of spreading her beliefs to the people of Egypt. “If we continue this act of hatred,” she said, “then our country will not be able to develop...let's all work together to make our country better.”
The most important thing in life, she asserted, is to raise above dualities of it. Throughout life, the Christians of Egypt will keep on facing respect and disrespect, success and failures, honour and ignominy, etc. Simultaneously, she insisted that they should never be distressed by insults and disrespects. In today's world if we all are able to respect and know about other cultures, and respect their values and belief, life would be easier for most of us, and we can learn a lot of beneficials things from each
