1. Which form of communication, oral or written, is most important in each of the following situations? Justify your answers.
• Oral communication is important when discussing day to day activities or idle chit chat. Written communication would be proper if the subject of discussion is of a formal nature. This would apply to the patrol officer, captain, chief, prosecutor, or the victim of a crime. Regardless of rank or social status, written communication is not always the best communication. Oral communication is the foundation on which written skills are built.
2. Who should be responsible for correcting mistakes in a police report?
