Responsibility For America

We as Americans should try to live by this quote “Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country”. Every citizen's responsibility to America is to keep their interests in the best interests of our nation. Many, if not all, Americans only think about how they can benefit themselves, and their own personal pursuits. They all fail to realize the most beneficial thing to themselves, and their children and grandchildrens lives, is to always put your nation's interests before their own. As Americans we should all realize that we need to put our country's interests before ours. My generation is one that only thinks of themselves and what can benefit them. We all need to start working together so we can live in a prosperous, …show more content…
Your Government should be trying to do what is best for all American Citizens, and staying true to the constitution. If our Government gets even more corrupt, and more anti-constitutional we need to rise up, and do what our Founders would have done. If they were around today, they would have already had a revolution and made changes. We need to understand that putting your responsibility towards America, it does not mean that we should always support the actions of our government. Our founders lived by this, they loved their nation, and where they came from. But the moment they noticed their leaders and …show more content…
They represent all of the blood spilt, and sacrifices made financially, personally, and physically to preserve our nation and its constitution. There are groups today who disrespect both, and spread lies saying they only represent and are symbolic of discrimination. Groups such as these need to either read history, or actually experience what they stand for. Many of those who think this way are just ignorant, and have to find the simplest things to get upset for. One thing that annoys me the most, is the people who either kneel while the anthem is being sung, or kneel while they are singing it. They believe they are making a difference, but in reality, they are just making themselves look idiotic and disrespectful. If they honestly think the United States is that bad, and discriminatory, they need to spend a weekend in North Korea, or another third world country. Our flag and anthem are both something symbolic to the sacrifices made, and do not need to be taken lightheartedly, and disrespected. We are one of the freest nations in the world, and the disrespect these people show to our nation would not be tolerated in many other

The government has portrayed themselves as good people when in fact they manipulate the citizens, officials keep secrets away from the citizens by not telling even when most know the answer. The government has deceived the nation of America for generations, doing things that isn’t government type. Throughout history the government has deceived it’s citizens in countless different ways. For example they invade privacy, allow illegal activity, lied on important documents, and even tapped in on pictures you send to others. Whether it's passing by homes that are proudly flying the flag on the front porch, going to the beach, or seeing it on clothes and stickers placed on cars. I often wonder if these people know what it represents. If so, why would they bluntly display such a controversial symbol? Due to this controversy, coupled that with the recent police shootings of unarmed African-Americans, and the rising attention on racism in America, last school term my English teacher assigned small…

Those men and women sacrifice their lives so we can live ours and that idea ,right there, is what makes our country so beautiful and so peaceful, so why not be on our feet with our hands over our hearts reciting our anthem to show them we are thankful for their bravery? That is the least we could do since they get shipped away from their loving families to risk their lives for our freedom, which sometimes we do not…

These negative views stem from a history of groups using the flag during controversial and inhumane times. The “Dixiecrat” party used the flag to protest against the civil rights movement (Coski 2015). In the 1940’s the UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy) tried to get involved and protect the flag against desecration and misuse, but ultimately lost the battle and the flag became the symbol of rebellion along with racism (Coski 2015). The KKK didn’t use the flag as its racist symbol until its second rebirth in the 1930’s and 40’s, causing the most damage to the flags reputation (Coski 2015).…

The American flag is one of the last symbols of hope. It stands for life, support and freedom. One example of how the flag is a symbol of life is when people die the veterans, the soldiers or anyone who worked for this country bring all the flags to half-mast to honor the people that die during the incident that occurred. When a flag is old and tattered persons cut the stars out and send them to friends and family so the flag is remembered but isn't “suffering”. The U.S. flag also stands for support.…

Some argue the key to democracy is lack of power in the government. Others argue, the constitution and government officials must protect rights and promote equality which ultimately leads to expansion in the size and power of government. It is certainly imperative to always be vigilant in monitoring the power of the government, but to be constantly paranoid about government action is harmful to everyday society. While one may be caught up in monitoring government activity, at the same time one could be active in his/her civic duty and ultimately benefiting society. The Constitution contains the Bill of Rights, which is the best example for explaining the limit of power the U.S. government has.…
