The questions of responsibility, accountability and who will receive the greatest impact from climate change all legitimate questions to ask. The current generation of children and teenagers though will see many effects of climate change, as most will be around well into the latter half of this century. For older generation though, their stakes on an individual level are lower as within their lifetime they might not see the profound impacts of how climate change will influence and transform the earth, but their children or grandchildren will. So whose responsibility is it to preserve what we call earth, the many species and ecosystems within it such that children won’t rely on textbooks to tell them about polar bears. We also have to consider the political impact of climate change such that we don’t leave the world a mess of political instability that future generations will have to clean up. As noted in the Hans Rosling Ted Talk in 2010, everyone wants upward mobility; no one wants to remain living in poverty. With that upward mobility though, that means more energy will be needed and used thereby increasing the impact on the planet by future generations
