Restaurant managers are responsible for making sure a business runs efficiently and effectively while also being profitable and managing other employees. Specific job tasks that managers perform vary on whether the organization is small or large. The job could be primarily based in an office with little customer contact if the organization is large, and when the organization is small the manager is more likely to be interactive with customers and staff with less time spent in the office. When becoming a restaurant manager there are many responsibilities that come with the job. This is important because it shows the manager what is selling best. Keeping statistical and financial records is also part of the manager’s job, which is also for making sure that the restaurant did not lose any money. Financial and statistical reports can also show whether someone is stealing from the restaurant. They must also find ways to improve the profitability of the restaurant. The manager does this by checking prices to make sure that they are making the most profit on products, and up charging items when need be. This has to do with things such as doing payroll for the employees. Any paperwork that needs done for the restaurant goes to the manager. The overall job of a manager is trying to make improvements to the restaurant to try and develop a better business plan for the restaurant. The education that is required to become a restaurant manager is a high school diploma and 5 years of restaurant experience. However, more and more managers are starting prefer that their managers have a college education. There are degree programs for restaurant management. The programs train people for leadership roles, training skills such as customer service, cost estimation, marketing, food service sanitation, and human resources. The projected job growth of restaurant managers is 5% and the mean annual salary is $53,640. The research I did in order to obtain the information goes back to when I worked in the restaurant industry this summer. I worked well over ten hours in a restaurant being trained on what to do to be a manager. I also spent three hours doing online research about salaries and education needed to be a restaurant
