By saying people need to come together and fight tyrannical practices for their freedom, they are gaining support

Standing Up Who knew you could stand up for what you believe in by sitting down? Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, was doing exactly that when he sat down during the playing of the national anthem before a pro-football game; I agree and approve of what he did. He was protesting the different treatment of colored people and also the cops. After reading the article, ¨In the `Land of the Free,` Are You Free to Sit Out the National Anthem?¨ by Jaweed Kaleem, I learned that Colin Kaepernick is not the only one taking a stand.…

The viewpoints of Patrick Henry that were expressed in his speech showed his compassion in fixing the problem with the opposing side, the British. He explained that the colonists must fight against the British and he is urging the colonists to make preparations for war. He states that the efforts for compromise have failed and fighting is their only option [1]. Patrick explains what the British are doing to the colonists, he mentions, “listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts” (Henry 228) [2]. This shows the false hope that the colonists have in their hearts of the British.…

One of his reasons that America should be independent is that they were already at war with the British. In his section “Preventing War”, he is saying that freedom from the British empire would only make the relationship with America and Britain better. Because the Britians and the Americans are already at war, America becoming independent and letting the british continue their monarchy rule would only prevent the current war between the two colonies from getting…

Everyone knows America as the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave,” as stated in our national anthem. I find that as a complete joke. The fantasy of the American dreams lies in the hands of the rich, white and wealthy. If a person does not apply to any of the above, freedom lies nowhere in their future. The amount of oppression and separation this country holds for its own people is beyond words.…

Paper #1: Chapters 1-3 of Voices of Freedom Looking back at the whole occurrence of the discovery of the New World it becomes evident the many hardships that the colonial settlers caused which justifies the egocentric intentions of the many Europeans. It seems that even though the settlers were fleeing from a country that forced views among themselves or caused unjust situations; the colonists were precisely acting on the foreign population, who they viewed as “lesser”, similarly to that of their homelands. Although at the time the occurrence was not obvious, looking at it from today’s standpoint, it is quit ironic. On more than one instance the settlers treated distinctive groups with an inhumane disrespect with no regard to their well-being.…
