“I have so much chaos in my life, and it’s become normal. You become used to it. Being forced to abandon a safe haven can cause one to hopelessly cling to the memories created there. In Gerda Klein’s memoir, All But My Life, she and her family are forced to leave their house. In this excerpt, she wanders throughout her garden for one last time. She then starts to reminisce about all the memories created there and realizes that her life will never be the same again, she has truly lost the innocence that her childhood once possessed. In the poem, “Their sex life” by A. R. Ammons, it would seem, at first glance, that it is almost too simple in nature, like it was written for Twitter-Lite, in which one can only use 30 characters or less. Possibly it is a modern day Haiku, two lines, fourteen characters, four syllables. Taken as a whole “One failure on top of another”, metaphorically speaking, the poet can be talking about anything. Career, relationship, stock picks and yes, obviously, sex.…
