Odysseus is a tragic hero because he fought battles to help save his land and save his people Odysseus shows his heroic characteristics when “Odysseus tricks the Cyclops by telling him he is “nobody” and then stabs the Cyclops in the eye then getting his man safe out of the cave with the idea being disguised like sheep” (902).
In Addition, The first tragic flaw Odysseus has is women. Odysseus easily falls into traps with his attraction to beautiful women. An example of this tragic flaw is “When Odysseus falls into Circe’s trap by his attraction to her beauty and almost gets his men killed” (933). This flaw causes Odysseus to be weak whenever he meets or sees beautiful women.
Finally, The second tragic flaw Odysseus has would be Overconfidence. This tragic flaw is seen when “Odysseus gets Poseidon mad and then faces other tragic times because of his overconfidence then doesn’t stop until it is completely over”(933). This flaw causes Odysseus to not want to fail anything or stop anything he does until it is officially done, but in the process of that he has moments where he almost gets his men killed many
