Although it was near WWII when Robert Frost wrote the poem, it’s not compatible for the reason of the poem. In the original poem in stanza three line two it phrases “The world will end for man”, but it doesn’t say anything about animals. My usumption is that he is trying to say humans will slowly just bring each other down and end the world ourselves instead of natural causes. In the outsiders the meaning is different and instead leans toward to the fact that everything good soon has an ending.

Our first character we are introduced to is Nature. Nature isn't a person, but rather symoblising life. Our second character is Eden, which refers to the Earth ending.

The reader may feel sad will reading this poem, because it has to do with sad loss in his life and the end of the world. The poets tone is serious because he is in was 50's and wouldn't joke about the end of the world. The poet has this tone because at the time he had written this, he had lost 2 children, both his parents, and his closest friend. So it would make sense that he would be sad and writing about grief and change after loss.

Robert Frost Robert Frost, most famous for such works as “The Road Not Taken” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” inspired the world with his poetry. Because most of the time he was coping with the death of a loved one, a large majority of his poems contemplate the purpose of life and what comes after death, simultaneously reflecting his constant feelings of isolation and grief. Born on March 26, 1874, to William Prescott Frost Jr. and Isabelle Modie Frost, Robert Frost lived in San Francisco for the first eleven years of his life. His mother introduced him to Shakespeare and other similar literature at an early age, instilling in him an early passion for reading and learning.…

You hear people crying, see looks of frustration, the door to reality has been opened. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is a poem about the loss of human innocence. " The Outsiders" is a book of feelings, with many unwieldy turns. Robert Frost's poem and S.E Hinton's book have indistinguishable themes.…

In the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay i think it means that all the great things in life cannot stay because their only there for a very short time in your life. The line” But only so a hour” i think it comes a few times in your life, and in the line” Hardest hue to hold” probably means it’s hard to keep what you want for a long time. But overall the whole poem Nothing Gold Can Stay is a poem of not able to hold onto something for a long time.…

A line from the poem that helps support my thought is when it says, “ Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour.” Those mean that everything is perfect and fun, until time goes by and it isn’t how it was before. It’s really sad when you think about it, like when you are playing with your new puppy, and then a few years later it can’t run around and play like it did. Another line that is an example of why the mood is sad, is when it says , “Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief.”…

In the poem, “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, Robert Frost demonstrates that the best things in life often go away first, proving to be hard to hold. He compares these ideas to the best things in nature. First, Robert Frost illustrates the concept of good things coming to an end when he writes, “So dawn goes down to day/ Nothing gold can stay” (Lines 7-8). Frost implies that even something as beautiful as dawn must subside to day.…

Pony recited the poem, “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” by Robert Frost when he watched the sunrise out in the country where he was hiding from police. He remembered the poem but didn't understand what it meant. At the end of The Outsiders, Johnny was the character who figured out how the poem related to him and his friends. This poem seems to be only about nature but when one reads it carefully, he or she can see that it is really about keeping your gold until the very end. Pony’s story is symbolized by the poem and each line explains his experiences in life.…

At the end of the sentence, the period marks a shift in the emphasis of the poem from focusing on specific images of nature that display the two tensions of real versus abstract and the known versus the unknown, to a broader and mortal timeline of a “lifetime.” As well as a shift in focus of the poem, the voice of the speaker becomes personal with her use of the “I” pronoun, and this functions to humanize the tensions created in the opening of the poem. Although the second section of the poem has a greater focus on mortality, the speaker still displays her ideas through imagery of nature. An image of “the fires and the black river of loss” presents the idea of death by, again, illustrating specific pictures of the physical world, and juxtaposing them with broad and abstract ideas—“loss.” Following the image of death is a direct reference by the speaker to the second tension addressed in the poem, what is known contrasting with what is unknown.…

The third and fourth lines of this poem are also metaphors. In nature everything eventually dies and is quite remembered when it is young and beautiful, but as time goes by the leaves die and become brittle and then new leaves are reborn. The entirety of this poem is about life and death cycle of humans. In this poem he uses a lot of metaphors just like “The Road not Taken”, however, he also uses quite a bit of alliteration in this one. The person speaking…

This induces related thoughts in the reader, causing them to recall that in times of great distress, the well-being of their own psyche (Heart) depends on the ability of their mind (Head) to console it through rational thought. These two sections of the poem echo the overall theme: that all will experience great loss over the course of their time on Earth, and in these times of loss, the mind must assume the role of consoler to the spirit so that it may recover to its natural…
