The world’s fourth most popular sport is a sport of focus, hand-eye coordination, movement, and competition. Tennis has been around since the 12th century, causing it to be extremely ancient. Like any other sport, it has witnessed discrimination against certain groups of people. The game has drastically changed its views and people that were once prejudiced-people of color and women- are topping the charts and adjusting the barriers even more by initiating equal pay and equal rules. The decrease of race and gender discrimination has increased the quality of play, and has changed the way that tennis is structured and viewed.…

With one swift movement across your keyboard, you can easily offend other people from across the globe in part of the progression of technology in the modern days. Whether that be on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or even in an online chatroom, racism is a widespread issue throughout the Internet because of how easy it is for someone to type something online. The book “Citizen: An American Lyric” by Claudia Rankine expresses many realities where people in the US display racism as a microaggression, which is a subtle, usually distasteful comment about another 's person 's race. One example Rankine talks about is when “Caroline Wozniacki, a former number one player, imitates Serena by stuffing towels in her top and shorts”(Claudia Rankine 111) and proceeded to impersonate and mock her opponent Serena Williams at an exhibition game on December 12, 2012. If we look at the idea of racism, we acknowledge the views that white people had against people of color as inferior to them. Racial discrimination does exist in sports as the discrimination has negatively impacted the ethics of sports and the code of conduct of athletes.
