The first factor of the Catholic church response to Galileo’s views was replacing geocentric with heliocentric. The church would be satisfied if Galileo viewed his discovery as an assumption, instead of believing its true. As proving his theory will only threaten the church that its biblical passages are proven false. The second factor is the Bible text, it's part of history and should be followed anyways.
