Thank you for your well thought-out paper. I understand that you did not want to lie to the father regarding diagnosis of his daughter; but, by law you are bound by confidentiality. In addition to confidentiality, you are bound to do no harm to your patient, and you did not know how the father may have responded to the diagnosis (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014). I applaud you that you were honest to let the doctor know how you felt about lying about the diagnosis.
