Summary Response to Chainsawsuit.com by Kris Straub
Summary
The comic panel located at Chainsawsuit.com, illustrated and written by Kris Straub; is a three panel graphic that touches on the topic of caring and equality. The comic depicts two people whom appear to be having a conversation regarding human equality and politics. The primary character states, “Well, I think all lives matter” and is later shown spraying a home with a water hose even though it is not on fire. However, the house next door is on fire. This comic is covering the current societal issue of the “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) movement and the fact that people are not paying attention to what is truly going on. According to Straub the home that is on flames has a significantly deeper meaning, at the bottom of the panel Straub mentioned “The fire represents need and not actual flame. The hose represents attention given, not water”. This metaphor is depicting what is currently going on in a society in which focus has shifted to issues other than the

This kind of violence will not be tolerated but it will obstruct the fact that racism and segregation operate on so many levels, whether we admit it or not. Now do you think this shooter got his message across? Did this shooter make a difference? because I sure don't think he did. Until people accept their differences and come together the change they are seeking will not occur. Although it is disheartening to see citizens as well as public servants of the country getting mortally wounded or killed over fear and anger, it is making matters worse. The situation then becomes one of hostility and the message is lost in the commotion, nothing positive comes from an environment where everything is

To me, Caucasia by Dannzy Senna, is a great novel, which weaves through difficult topics into a sensitive, absorbing read. In essence, Caucasia is a well-crafted “coming of age story” that highlights the strict confines of race. The novel mainly shares the journey of Birdie Lee, a young bi-racial girl who was growing up in Boston in the mid 1970’s. We learn Bridie’s father is black and her mother is white; and Bridie’s older sister Cole has dark skin, while Bridie is more light skinned. Eventually, the girl’s parents can’t get along at all, and this causes the family to fall apart.…

The #BlackLivesMatter movement was created in 2012 when the grand jury found George Zimmerman not guilty of the fatal killing of Trayvon Martin. Stemming from the horrible experiences of Black people in the country who actively fight to resist de-humanization. #BlackLivesMatter is a call for action and a major response to the racial bias of Black Americans. What people fail to realize is that the movement goes far beyond killings of black Americans by police and others, it sends out awareness to not only to Black Americans but to all the other races. The movement has been a growing topic of social media to spread awareness.…

Humans are motivated by what is called psychological egoism, we are always motivated by what we perceive to be in our own self-interest, and it is the reason behind many of our everyday interactions and choices we make. However, what influences interactions we never hope to have, and decisions we never hope to make, such as deadly mass shootings? Was it a form of free will, or was it a result of psychiatric disorders such as PTSD or antisocial personality disorder, or was it the unleashing their anger, such as the rage and discrimination that they might have dealt with throughout their lives. The recent attacks on police forces were not only influenced by the recent attacks of black men but also as a result of PSTD as both attackers were being…

Although there have been many efforts and legislations passed to end racial disputes, none have truly passed the test, as racial altercations have been an issue since the 1800’s and continues to still be a problem today. Honorable individuals such as Martin Luther King, Thurgood Marshall, and even Rosa Parks, just to name a few, have all done their parts in trying to raise awareness to end racism in the states. One of the more prestigious racial riots is the one that blew up in Ferguson, Missouri, after a young black man, Michael Brown, was killed by a white police officer after he stole from a convenience store and appeared to have posed a threat to the officer as he approached. Even after all attempts to end racism from the 1800’s to the…

Public shootings or mass public killings have been an epidemic that our society as a whole has had to deal with since the beginning of time. Throughout all these events one thing has often been the same, they had planned it beforehand before they executed the deed. People seem to think that banning guns will in turn solve the conflict that we face currently but that is a very ill conceived notion. The solution to this problem is to enforce stronger gun laws and regulations. For example they should put a limit on purchasing guns without a background check to look for any mental instability and a gun ownership license.…

Throughout U.S. history a significant amount of all murders and assaults has been cause of hatred. Today in some places of the world people that are African Americans are describe as the first hate crime victims. Even though in America a hate crime is considered to be an illegal act against a person. It is still been a big social problem, it is either with racist cops (which I will get into soon) or racist people in general. Recently there has been countless video of racist cops encounters with black people a most recent popular one is the Sandra Bland case in which she was approached by a cop for a minor traffic stop in which ended up in conflict between the both that was recorded by the officer's dashcam.…

What this image is able to show the viewers is that this fire is his only source of warmth. Without a home to live in, people like that little boy don’t have the warmth and comfort they need in order to live a happy life. The next way that this video is able to show that people are in need of help is through the use of little empty orange cups. These cups are a way to show that people are thirsty and are in need of resources in order for them to live. In the lyrics, Garrett says that she’s “been a victim of a selfish kind of live /…
