1. I would like to become a Residence Assistant at Brescia University College because I really enjoyed my experience as a first year student in residence. Before I came to university, I was a very shy person and that was always something I wanted to change. I really wanted to become more outgoing and meet new people and being in residence really helped me achieve that. My RA during first year really encouraged me to run for floor representative, which helped me meet a lot of good friends including someone I would call my best friend. Since I had such a great experience in residence, I would really like to be apart of it again and help other students enjoy their time at Brescia. I would also like to be more involved within …show more content…
A big positive experience to my current home life in London would be being a mediator for my two roommates. Although my roommates are really good friends they often buttheads and get into disputes. Something that they have both praised me on is how well I can look at both situations and truly help them resolve the conflict. My first official job was with Niagara parks as an elevator operator at Journey Behind the falls. During my experience there, I had learnt the importance of communication and teamwork. Prior to working there I usually preferred to do things on my own but I had realized that doing things alone isn’t always the best thing. At my job we had to be in constant communication for things like where you were positioned for that day, how many tickets were for each time slot, and when to start lining tourists up for the next time slot. If any of that information were wrong, it would cause confusion for not only the other employees but also the tourists who were our customers. I also learned the value of communication for solving problems and how to work something out with a customer if they were upset. In my last two years of high school, I worked and volunteered as a tutor, which was an experience that helped me learn the skill of patience. I mainly tutored grade 9 math which could get frustrating when I was learning things more advanced than that. I had to learn how to be patient with the students because they did not understand things that seemed easy to me. Being able to sit down and try to teach something to someone has really taught me how to be patient with others. I think that communication, team work, and patience are all skills that would assist me in being a great Residence Assistant because it requires me to be able to work with not only the students on my floor but also
