Response Letter To A Teacher

Professor McConnell then shared a few of his most positive accepts of his teaching career. “The most positive would have to be my ability to connect with my students on an educational and a personal level has been the best part of teaching. Recently my father passed away, which lead me to struggle a bit to come to grips with that, but nothing helped me more than going back to work and being surrounded by my students, whom I love dearly. I have also recently begun sponsoring and LGBTQ+ club that has allowed me to help give a voice to students who at times feel that they are silenced and persecuted for the way that they live their lives. Having the opportunity to touch the hearts of those who are eager to learn is beyond rewarding.” On the flip …show more content…
And If given the choice, would you choose the same career path? Professor McConnell’s response was motivational and helped me realize that just like people, no two teachers are exactly the same. “I would ask them to consider why it is that they want to be a teacher, and to think deeply on the kind of classroom that they would like to have. The attitude of the teacher towards the class affects the atmosphere in the classroom, how students perceive them, how students learn, student energy levels and readiness, and so much more. One of the worst mistakes that teachers can make is to try and force themselves into a teaching style that does not suit them. There are many different ways that teachers can have success with students, and many kinds of great teachers, which is why I believe that this individuality needs to shine through. Being said, I would absolutely be a teacher again, no questions asked. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling profession where I come across more interesting and varied individuals with the ability to form lasting relationships and get to do what I love

There are many articles that I have read over the last few weeks, but two in particular really challenged my thinking and philosophy in regards to education. In the article, “Edwin & Phyllis,” Lynn Fendler engages her readers with a meaningful dialogue between an experienced teacher and a prospective educator, debunking some of the more traditional responses that young, perspective teachers might give for wanting to become educators. The truth is that teaching can be anything but glamorous and oftentimes straddles the fine line between causing more harm then the good that it seeks to accomplish in the life of a child. Prospective teachers must not only think about what motivates them in wanting to become educators, but what type of teachers…

Response Memo, Week Three Charlotte Freitag In their policy-shifting report “Broken Windows: The Police and Neighborhood Safety”, Wilson and Kelling (1982) make a case for why they believe proactive policing would help lower crime rates nationally and promote feelings of comfort across communities. They argue that the widespread usage of foot patrolling officers, as opposed to officers patrolling in vehicles, would promote positive civilian interactions and would deter crime, as the physical presence of police officers would dissuade potential criminals from acting out in public spaces (Wilson and Kelling 1982). Their assertions are based on research the Police Foundation conducted in Newark, New Jersey, where they observed how the presence of foot patrol officers shaped the community and its crime rate (Wilson and Kelling 1982). After the experiment ran its course, they concluded that while the actual crime rate was unchanged, residents perceived the neighborhood as safer than it had been before the foot patrol officers began circulating the area…

After last week’s writing, I found myself in quite a fog of insecurity. Thankfully the most recent installment of YITE brought me back to the sunny side of teaching philosophy. Reading about the art of teaching was rather inspiring even. The quote from the text, “approaching instruction in a variety of ways to provide multiple paths for students to both learn the content and develop the skills of the curriculum is artistry (pg 147),” caught my attention. Often in my life I have gotten the impression that some people consider the position of a teacher as that of merely a figurehead, an adult to put in front of a group of kids to keep them occupied.…

Since around 1991, the thought of reforming America’s education system has invaded an immense amount of citizens’ minds. Many believe that the academic program we all know as the norm should make a change, such as XQ America, and their Super School campaign. XQ was co-founded by Russlynn Ali and Laurene Powell Jobs, wife of Steve Jobs. While XQ America focuses on the improvement of high school, I personally believe the education system as a whole should be reconsidered. As an aspiring teacher, I believe I can reform America’s schooling method in various ways, such as ensuring I teach effectively and incorporating STEM techniques.…

Education is a crucial aspect of society, and has an impressive change in the generations that are to come. When I was in my senior year of high school, my english teacher taught me how to express myself through my own descriptive writing. Throughout these years of being a student, I never had a mentor reach out to me in that way with writing. After graduating, I took a year off from school so I could figure out what I wanted to major in. In that time, I realized how influential teachers and professors can be in those years for pupils.…

Most people change their career decisions multiple times before they actually pick a final job, but I never had an interest in anything other than being a teacher. I have always connected with younger kids over high school or middle school children, which is why I chose to major in Early Childhood Education. I believe that teachers have the ability not only change the world, but improve it. I want to become a teacher because seeing that light bulb go off and seeing the looks on the student’s faces when they get a problem is a great feeling. Many kids are ignored at home or even bullied at home and I want to make all those children feel wanted and to know that someone is there for them and truly does care about them.…
