The article has my interest, because a dress code effected my four years of high school. It made me mad, that we were told, that our clothes were "distracting" the boys. It also interested me, because I can see how it effects other schools. I personally think, this article shows how schools can body-shame girls and get away with it. They are being told to wear clothes that meet the schools standards. The reason why girls are targeted most, is because of the boys in the schools. Parents are outraged, because of the dress code and how it effects the girls. Girls are comfortable in their own clothes, but not when the school tears them down.
This article is newsworthy, because of how schools are body-shaming students. No one needs to be body-shamed, just because of what they wear! If schools are supposed to be a "safe" environment, then why are they body shaming girls? Schools are supposed to be a great time for students, but not if they are being put down for what they wear. The public needs to know, how "great" the school systems are becoming.
I think, the publisher of this article needs to add a few details. The few details are: the opinions and stories of the girls that are being affected by the dress codes, and also add in the opinions of the school board.
