Responded Howie's Game: A Narrative Fiction

Kevin was sure that Howie would change his mind once he saw Cromwell in action. Once he saw how dedicated to staying active he was, he would have to start paying for classes. So, he asked Howie to come with him to the park to see Cromwell do his thing. Howie thought buying classes for the dog was a waste of money. However, he reluctantly agreed, seeing how persistent Kevin was about getting lessons for Cromwell.

“Thank you so much!” Kevin said. “You won’t regret it. He’ll amaze you!”

“I hope not.” Responded Howie. “If I’m going to pay for classes for the dog, it better be worth it!”

The next day, Kevin and Howie got up early in the morning to go to Horner Park to walk Cromwell. Kevin hoped that Cromwell would run around as hyper as he usually did. He routinely broke free from his leash and ran through volleyball games and picnics. As Kevin and Howie walked in the park, Kevin could see that

Kevin and Howie were not nearly as fast as Cromwell, so they began to fall behind. Cromwell finally reached the volleyball game. The players froze in shock when they saw him coming. He began weaving in and out of the players’ legs, some of them falling over. Cromwell lightly bumped his head a few times, but he didn’t stop for anything.

“Man, that dog can run!” Howie said in surprise.

“I told you, you wouldn’t be disappointed!” Said Kevin.

The volleyball players attempted to catch Cromwell as he darted around their legs, most of them unsuccessful. Finally, one of the players was able to dive and grab Cromwell in his arms. Once he was caught, Kevin and Howie trotted over and Cromwell was returned to his rightful owners. They apologized to the players for the inconvenience. After witnessing Kevin’s persistence and Cromwell’s speed and agility, Howie finally agreed to pay for classes.
