Respiratory Therapy Management Team

I was unaware that hospitals performed a “reengineering,” that eliminated the Respiratory Therapy management team. I can see why this approach did not work, I think this devalued respiratory therapist. When it comes to scheduling hours a nurse that never did work in the field of respiratory may schedule too many employees or not enough. They would be unaware of the time it takes to deliver a treatment, ventilator checks, equipment, 02 checks, ABG’s, sputum inductions, ect. Especially when it comes to supplies how a nurse would be able to effectively order and keep supplies if they are unaware of what we go through without doing the job. Another problem I see with this is it would make me feel devalued. I would feel like my job isn’t important enough to have someone in the same field as a manager. In my opinion nurses are already held to the performing everything role. The hospital lacks teamwork, all …show more content…
As this chapter says this can promote ideas, plans, people trying to communicate, and I can feel it can make the department closer. Once these meetings are over, people will be discussing the topics what they liked what they did not like. This gives new or employees that do not work together often a chance to bond. Which creates department relationships. I find meetings bring together department managers with members of their team that they do not get to see often. The department manager is most likely not working during the evening or night shift. This gives those members of the department the chance to see how their manager is performing in his role. It’s in these meetings that he can prove how he is making the department better. I find developing a relationship with your manager very important. He is the one that creates your schedule, fights for your raises, and makes payroll. These are reasons that I think department meetings are valuable to a
