Sit ins, peace rallies of the 60's and freedom music. All of these form our country's past shows that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society.
People from our own history have proved that peaceful rallies are a positive way to express your feelings, make issues come to light, get others attention and make things change. Today, people are not always peaceful when it comes to expressing their thoughts and feelings on a mass scale such as a demonstration. However, the outcome is usually the same.
Others become aware of your issue. People either support or condone it. Little change is made because those who have the power to do so are making those changes with or without you.

While this story in today's news continues to unfold, I have to still believe that these peaceful protesters, resisting the laws set forth will positively impact our society. It will bring about change for sure but it will also bring about people talking to each other, environmental groups taking notice of issues that impact even the smallest of groups, corporations (not wanting the poor public image) to think and use strategies to come up with multiple plans to projects with the least amount of public hurt.
Most of all, it will bring about awareness to those who think that their one voice doesn't matter or can make a difference. It will make people dream big and strive to make what matters to them, matter to others to bring about change. It can make the world a better
