I am a determined individual, who has been through many bumps in the road, yet my goal to become both an officer, and veterinarian have never faltered. This is due to the resiliency that I have; I learned in Basic Training Combat that every good soldier needs resiliency in order to be successful. Whenever you receive my final transcript from the University of Alabama, you will notice I received a grade of a “D” in one of my final courses. This is the first and only class in my life I have ever received a grade lower than a C- in. I have a genuine explanation of why I have done so poorly in this class for the semester. I had an emergency surgery in November and was in an excessive amount of pain that lasted until December, which caused me to miss a lot of days this semester. My professors worked with me to help makeup a few things that I missed, but I found myself unable to focus and do my best with all that I was going through at the time.…

Adversity isn’t a word I became familiar with until I realized how different my life was from my peers. Since preschool I attended a private catholic school. Most of my classmates grew up much wealthier than I was, however this never really bothered me. My hardships and difficulties in life come from the lack of stability at home.…
