Residential Students In College

College can be very different for certain students. This includes commuter students and those who live on campus, also known as residential students. Commuter students are individuals who live at home and must to travel to school. This can change a student’s outlook on college. The college experience is much different for commute students than it is for residential students. Residential students tend to spend majority of their time on campus since this is where they live. They have the wonderful opportunity to meet several new people and build campus relationships. These students do all of their daily activities on campus, which gives them the chance to socialize with many of the other students that also go to that college. Residential students also have knowledge of where almost everything is at that particular university. They know what is in each building and how to get there. These students tend to get more involved in the college they attend since this is where all of their time is spent, such as joining clubs. …show more content…
They typically just go to class and leave once class is over. It can be more problematic for them to meet new people because of their tight schedules. They do not always have time to stay at school and mingle because of events that may be going on in their life, such as attending work, caring for their child, or even doing stuff around the house. Unlike the residential students, commuter students are not as accustomed to the campus. They are usually only familiar with the buildings in which their classes are held. This can cause some commutes confusion when looking for certain buildings they aren’t acquainted with. Since commutes must travel to school, they must wake up earlier to dodge traffic and also take the time to search for a parking space. It can be quite aggravating sometimes with the limited
