Residential Dining Hall Observation Paper

For this assignment, I chose to observe the smaller side of the residential dining hall (res) at 9 in the morning. The smaller side of the dining hall is lined with booths on the side wall, back wall, and window side. In the center of the room, there are tables (usually 2-4) clustered in line formation. The booths seem to encourage a more intimate dining setting (if 2 or more people are present) or isolate a single person from the rest of the people present.
I observed that this is a place where people both hang out and work. When I was there, a there were three people working on laptops and one more person studying from notes. I suspect if I observed res at a later time, say noon, I would see less, if any, people studying or working on a
