I believe the key responsibility for a Residential Assistant is to build an effective community. To create a positive and productive community, residential assistants should be open, disciplined, and compassionate.
Living in a society that is comprised of people from different cultural and social backgrounds, it is important for a RA to emphasize an open environment. An open environment will allow residents to feel secure and comfortable to express themselves, and it will protect individualities of each student.
