I am a strong believer in the idea of leadership for service. This is the idea that I would be serving as a leader at UNC, not for my benefit, but for the benefit of others. By obtaining the leadership role as an orientation leader, I will be able to make a positive impact on incoming students, as well as students who have already experienced UNC. A Resident Assistant impacts a student throughout their entire semester during their time on campus. Being a Resident Assistant would give me an opportunity to use my leadership skills in a way that will help things within the

In the VHA Workforce and Succession Strategic Plan of 2016, VISN aggregated data cites Registered Nurse as the 2nd highest Mission Critical Occupation in FY 2016 through 2022. VHA projects 39,256 RN losses from attrition over that six year span. Turnover is expected to be high because of early career quit rates, staffing shortages, voluntary retirement, staff satisfaction issues, and from the overall high mission critical nature of the RN position within VHA. On top of nurse attrition, the VHA continues to face increased competition for skilled nurses from private sector medical facilities. When competing against private sector facilities, recruitment and retention is particularly difficult for nurses with advanced professional skills, knowledge…

I have been interested in the Resident Advisor Position since I was in High School. My sister is an RA at Boston College, and she frequently raved about how much she enjoyed the position. Since she and I are extremely close, I often helped her create her door decorations, plan events, and listened to many stories about her experience. I came to Hamilton knowing that I wanted to be an RA, and I cannot imagine my time at Hamilton without having that experience. The main aspect of the RA position that I find extremely attractive (besides the fact that I get to make door decorations!), is that this job allows creativity and social interaction to intertwine in a very unique way.…

Foreman. Session1.Journal When I was working as an administrative assistant in a busy office in Walnut Creek, California, I was offered a promotion to be the senior pastor’s administrative assistant and the office manager, overseeing 14 other women who also worked in the office. I immediately said, “No thank you!” The reasons for declining this position stemmed from lack of confidence and believing that I didn’t have the skill set required to fulfill the numerous tasks involved. Nor did I feel I had the leadership qualities that I had seen in the previous “Super Woman” in that position!…

a leader is to be able to influence group activities and deal with change. A challenge for healthcare leaders is that most leadership techniques were not created for the healthcare field, rather for the business environment. These business theories are applied to healthcare but the goals do not always match up. “Healthcare systems are composed of numerous professional groups, departments, and specialties with intricate, nonlinear interactions between them; the complexity of such systems is often unparalleled as a result of constraints relating to different disease areas, multidirectional goals, and multidisciplinary staff” (Abdulaziz, 2013, p 285).…

Research Background Indonesia is a country with a high level of power distance, which means the people will be expecting control from the superiors and are being dependent on the hierarchy (Hofstede, 2010). Those dependency towards the superior or people with control suggest that leaders are very important to groups or organization in Indonesia. Leader itself was defined as: One or more people who selects, equips, trains, and influences one or more follower(s) who have diverse gifts, abilities, and skills and focuses the follower(s) to the organization’s mission and objectives causing the follower(s) to willingly and enthusiastically expend spiritual, emotional and physical energy in a concerted coordinated effort to achieve the organizational…
