I have chosen to research the job of a nurse practitioner. I have given this career a lot of thought lately and it is the main career I have in my head at the moment. Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who are educated and trained to provide medical care from the diagnosis to the treatment of an illness. To become a nurse practitioner, one would have to first become a registered nurse. After becoming a registered nurse, one would then have to earn a bachelor’s degree. After earning the bachelor’s degree, one would then need to gain job experience as a registered nurse and then obtain a graduate degree. Finally, one would have to obtain a state license and certification. After all this is done, one would then pursue further specialization as a nurse practitioner. I think that I would be interested in becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner because I enjoy working with kids. This idea of pediatrics is supported by my ENFP personality type. A couple of the suggested occupations for ENFP personality types included a teacher and psychologist which both can work with kids. The job outlook for nurse practitioners in Illinois is very good. The demand for nurse practitioners is very high and is expected to grow 31 percent from 2012 to 2022. That is much faster than the average for all occupations.
