In the 19th century a planet named Vulcan was discovered by scientist named Urbain-Jean-Joseph Le Verrier. Vulcan was a planet that hovered somewheres inside Mercury’s orbit. Le made a hypothesis that speculated that you couldn’t see the planet because of the sun’s glare. Discovering the planet admitted Le to the French Legion of honor and a post as the head of the Paris Observatory. Everybody was hunting for Le’s planet. Then Edmond Modeste Lescarbault saw a small black dot. Le went to Oreges-en-Beauce to make sure there was nothing wrong with Edmond’s equipment.
