Research Paper On The Great Sphinx

Decent Essays
The Great Sphinx of Egypt is a beautiful and magnificent site to see. No matter how you see the Sphinx, through photos or videos nothing can compare to seeing it with your own eyes. The story is that Napoleon's soldiers shot off the nose of the Sphinx. Some people think that Khafre took the throne from Djedefre and built the Pyramids and Sphinx, but others believed that King Khufu built it. The sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a woman, but Sphinxes from Egypt have the head of a man, usually a pharaoh or a god. The face on this particular Sphinx is King Khafre. Scientist think the sphinx is about 4,500 years old. The pyramid is made out of quarried limestone. The great Sphinx faces the rising sun, and can be found in the Giza Plateau.
