Ever wondered what Science fiction was? Do you think about it when you see animations, futuristic things, places, and people? Well you’re correct, because Science fiction is exactly that, and there is even much more to it. The future, animate/inanimate objects, creatures, people, are all combined into a science fictional story. In other cases it can obviously be completely fake, but that is just the natural outlook and truth behind it. For example, the hit movie series Star Wars. Star Wars is an epic galactic opera franchise. There’s many real and fake things, people, and situations that occur, in this movie series. The thing about Star Wars that you should know is that although it can seem quite believing, there are

The Desertion is a story about humans attempting to colonize the planet Jupiter. The problem is that that there is too much pressure and the fact that alien lifeforms (lopers) are on the planet. Anyone human that goes to Jupiter is also turned into a loper and never return. The reason why this story is science fictional is because there is an involvement of DNA manipulation technology, domes for the humans to reside in, planets that different populations can live on, the galaxy, and the proof of alien lifeforms. Desertion uses aliens in several ways. For instance, the quote “They would turn me back into a dog,” said Towser. “And me, back into a man,” said Fowler. (Simak 10) This quote shows that Towser and Fowler are depending on the aliens to choose wisely on what they are going to do with their lifeforms. The aliens have the right to choose between changing them back to their original lifeforms or not. Another quote that supports the proof of aliens being used is “We’re beginning to learn a few of the things we are to know-a few of the things that were kept from us as human beings, perhaps because we were human beings.” (Simak 8) This quote shows that human beings lack as much knowledge and power compared to aliens. The humans are held back, unlike alien …show more content…
Their attempt succeeds, although they come across a unique device, an unusual type of technology. The humans do not know who placed it on the moon, what it’s purpose is, when it was placed, and why. The reason why this story is science fictional is because there is an involvement of a futuristic device and technology brought onto the Moon by the aliens. Now, the aliens are not actually witnessed by any humans in this story, which is the unusual part. But there still is evidential facts and existence of aliens due to the fact that the sentinel device was built by them. Here is one quote that supports aliens being used in this story “When our world was half its present age, something from the stars swept through the Solar System, left this token of its passage, and went again upon its way.” (Clarke 6) This quote means that as time passed on Earth, the humans did not visit the moon. But as soon as they visit the moon 20 years later, they find the sentinel. This quote shows that the humans are speaking about the aliens and are curious as to why they left the sentinel there, alone on the moon. The humans are completely unaware of how long it was even up on the moon for. Another quote that supports the proof of aliens being used is “So they left a sentinel, one of millions they have scattered throughout the universe, watching over all worlds with the promise of life.” (Clarke 6) This quote means that the humans are attempting
