Senior night. One of the most important traditions my marching band has. I never quite understood the purpose of this tradition, was it to show progress? A last ‘hurrah’ for the upperclassmen to watch? It took me four years to understand completely what senior night really means. When you watch something you love go and take on this challenge without you, to perform, its amazing. Performing that halftime show to the best of their ability, showing to us that they don’t really need us to be around to be successful. Standing in that booth, watching them perform the intricate details of their music and their footing, I saw how they can be without us. Jazz Night Concert Report The concert that I chose to attend was Jazz Night which was held at the Arnette Scott Ward performing Arts Center on the Pecos campus. I decided to show up to this performance because I have always had an appreciation for the skill and talent it requires to play an instrument. I was pleased by the concert because I heard a wide spectrum of timbre, and I was especially thrilled because I got to hear the brassy sound given off by the trumpets. I used to be a trumpet player…

Concerts have always been a way for the general public to experience their favorite artists and musicians perform right in front of them. I myself have been to several concerts, all of which have been rap and hip hop concerts. So going to an orchestral concert was going to be a very different experience to me. I know that there wasn’t going to be any mosh pits or excessive screaming of fans throwing themselves onto the performers. With all that in mind, I was mentally preparing myself for a very different experience, and honestly, I was more than ecstatic to go than I should have been.…

The live performance I attended took place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on November 20. This place is well known for its nightlife scene and endless entertainment options and live concerts, however this specific night something major was about to happen for all of us from the Cuban community. It was the first time that young Cuban musicians from different musical backgrounds, would come to U.S and offer a huge concert, all together on the same scenario. There was a lot of anticipation and expectation for this specific event in the Cuban community and of course I joined a group of friends and bought tickets to be part of this memorable event. There is an assumption that Cuban musicians are not successful out of Cuba, and I am not referring to traditional musicians and Cuban music like Benny More, Celia Cruz, or Chucho…

Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
