What is Rosacea?
Rosacea, pronounced "roh-ZAY-sha", is a non-contagious auto-immune skin disorder estimated to affect at least 16 million in the U.S. alone. (Gary W. Cole) It typically begins between the ages of 30 and 60 as redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead, but overtime the condition may spread to the neck, ears, and chest. Rosacea is characterized by developing primarily on the skin of the face in "flare-ups" and remissions, and is often mistaken for acne because of how pimples and bumps can develop if the condition goes untreated.
