Rembrandt was born to the son a miller on July 15, 1606. His family was modest but took a great deal of care about his education. Although he enrolled in the University of Leiden he soon left to follow his passion for art. Both his masters Jacob van Swanenburch and later on Pieter Lastman were greatly known for their historical paintings. He mastered and perfected everything he was taught after six months.
As a young master he then gained a more famously known student named Gerrit Dou. His wife was the reason for his commissions since she was the one that would contact him with patrons, people that would pay him to paint. He was more known for his religious art works since they were on demand for them. His life was full of tragedies, his wife
