On Thursday November 2nd, I attended an event of Blues Week which is called Combating Mental Health Stereotype in Black and African People. I wanted to attend this event because I thought it would be interesting to gain knowledge about different cultures and ethnicities in terms of mental health stereotypes. On this event, I learned that African Americans are 10 to 20 % are more likely to report having serious psychological distress when compared to their peers. African Americans represent 12 % of U.S population and 40 % of the homeless population.
