My first day of preschool was the most exciting day of my life. I remember being so excited when walking into the classroom where it was already filled with an abundance of elated children. We played with each other in and out the classroom, sang songs as a class, and did many crafts. With making new friends, being in a new environment, and learning new things, preschool was the place for many adventures. Unfortunately, many American children do not get to experience preschool. Preschool can cost about $300-$1,100 monthly for just one child, according to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). This would be impossible to pay for a family that earns minimum wage. Children that never have been in a daycare with many children usually have health problems (getting sick) when entering preschool. These children could get sick very easily from their immune system not being built up. If your preschool is closed for a holiday that a parent has to work, then you have to find a back-up care for their children. Preschool is not beneficial to all children. You can give all children the education and time from preschool, but that does not mean that will graduate high school, go to college, or have the best record when they grow up. Many parents do not have flexible schedules to pick up their child at a certain when the daycare closes so they would have to pay a late fee. These are just the start of many reasons that children don't attend preschool.
Children the age of 3 and 4 should have to attend preschool. At this age this is the only place where they can play with other children their age, while learning and they can be on their own without their parents.
