The party formed in October 2002. They are a single issue party and they lean more towards libertarian. They wish to end the drug war and the prohibition of marijuana. They started as the Alabama Marijuana Party. A woman named Loretta Nall started the Party as a result of the alleged harassment of the local authorities. Since it started, this organization has become one of the largest legalization and decimalization grass root movements in the entire country. They have locations in Colorado, Kentucky, Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Idaho as well as another 21 states. They are tired of living in fear of the government because of the Marijuana prohibition.
