police handle a main part in society as its protectors. Ideally officers look out for the citizens and try to protect their safety and happiness. Throughout the years, the society has questioned the use of force, racism and unethical as well as other forms of misconduct by officers. Some people claim that many of these problems are misconstrued by the media; these officers are simply doing their job. According to the Wall Street Journal, in 2015 proximately 1,200 people were killed by police officers. The system needs to be changed and officers should become protectors more than enforcers.
Police brutality in America is an immense problem that does require attention from the government. Some officers’ use their power to frighten the society. Many people have been unnecessarily shot by officers. According to Aviva Shen in her article “St. Louis Police Shoot Black Honor Student 25 Times”, St. Louis police shot Cary Ball Jr. 25 times when he was unarmed. Police stated that Ball refused to pull over for a traffic stop, and he crashed into a parked car. Then he ran away, because he had convicted for robbery when he was 17. Therefore, it was illegal for him to possess a gun, but according to eyewitnesses, Ball did not handgun at the police, to lead them to open fire. The officers lied, but there was no

First, the police entered the house violently to apprehend him on a bench warrant. Then they attacked him without any cause or justification and then continued the assault. Furthermore, they did not inform him of why he was being detained of his rights. There is an example of the police abusing their power. How? The person was not violent to the police because of the incident, and he was confused, as he did not know what was going on. The police should have asked to speak with him, explained to him the situation, how it would be handled and then quietly without any incident take him into custody to fix the mistake by the
