The Polar Bear

Due to polar bears swimming everyday they have webbed feet. Polar bears are one of the most interesting animals for many reasons. One reason is where they live. Another reason is the way the polar bear hunts. Lastly, how the animal repopulate. This are some reason why the polar bear are one of the most interesting animals on earth.

Polar bears also known as ursus maritius is one of the most dangerous mammals on earth. They are found in the arctic circle which includes Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, and Iceland (WWF. "Polar Bear." WorldWildlife.org. World Wildlife Fund, n.d. Web. 12 Jan. 2015). The Polar Bear comes from the grizzly bear but the polar bear has white fur with black skin. The white fur is to camouflage into the snow and the black skin is to attract sun onto their bodies to keep warm. Ursus maritius grow up to 166 centimeters which is 5.44619 feet standing on all four paws when the stand up on two paws to fight they can reach 308.4 centimeters or 10 feet. But unlike all other carnivores polar bears mainly feast of seals or seal pups. To hunt for seals polar bears spent 50% of their day hunting for the food and only 2% of it is successful hunting (E, Andrew. "Polar Bear - National Wildlife Federation." Polar Bear - National Wildlife Federation. N.p., n.d. Web. 11 Jan. 2015). When polar bears go hunting they lay down in the snow to camouflage with it and wait for a seal to come on to land to breath. Once the bear spots the seal they bite them on the back and bring it to the rest of its family. Sometimes if they can't find any polar bears look for arctic dens where they find seal pups to eat.
