This past Sunday, Pickens Fire Rescue, whose members often wear their fire or EMS hats, had an opportunity to put on their rescue helmets. A young woman who was with some friends, lost her footing and fell from near the top of a set of waterfalls on private property; A fall estimated at between 50 and 75 feet. She was in need of rescue. Pickens 911 was immediately contacted and Pickens Fire Dispatch paged out Station 11 and the volunteers at Bethany Salem. While Station 11 personnel attempted to locate the young woman by working up the river bed, located some 120 feet below Upper Salem Church Rd., volunteers from Bethany Salem worked down from the top of the falls. Fire Rescue personnel soon located the young woman. Paramedics from Station
