Research Paper On Pet Peeves

Improved Essays
Everyone has pet-peeves. The one thing that just drives them crazy to the point they can't do anything except focus on ignoring it. My biggest pet peeve is lied to. I absolutly hate when people lie to me or withhold the truth from me in any way. Recently, I have had my best friend lie to me multiple times because she was embarrassed or because she didn't want me to get mad. I’ve tried to tell her that I’m going to be less angry if she is honest with me, but she doesn’t listen. As much as it hurt to find out I was being lied to, I have been able to take this experience to work on my communication and conflict resolution skills.
The first time I discovered my best friend was lying to me, hurt way more than I could have imagined. Don’t get me

Everyone has lied at least a few times in their life. Most people lie when they are pressurized or afraid of the consequences of telling the truth. Lying is acceptable if it is to make life easier or to protect others, but some people say lying is unacceptable in any situation. First, lying can be used to protect others. Another one my closest friends did not speak for almost 4 months, we did not argue or anything, Folger et al. (2013) argues that “behavioral responses to hurt may be similar to those for anger, but also include acquiescence to the other’s behavior and expressions of invulnerability” (p. 50); I agree with this because after noticing that she stopped answering my calls or text me back, I got tired of it, my hurt turned into anger and then just let it go. On my birthday she called, & I ignored it; however, I listened to the voicemail, because I knew her so well, I could tell something was not right. I could no longer be upset with her on my birthday and I was afraid that something might wrong.…

I decided to write about my relationship with my dad in this post because Father’s Day just passed and because I’ve already made a post about the incredible bond I have with my dad. In that post I mentioned that he was away in Korea when I was born and I didn’t get to see him until I was 7 months old. My mother, who was only 22 at the time, had a lot of responsibility taking care of the three of us who were all under 3 years old. When my dad came home he took over the caregiving duties for me completely because he wanted to make sure he bonded with me. There was a solid attachment built between the two of us at that time that has been tested over time but never frayed.…
