Palmyra is a city located in the ancient Aramic city and it is the central of Syria. It is located in an oasis 245km east of the Mediterranean Sea and 210 km west of the Euphrates River, it is located in the center of Syrian Steppe (cited). Palmyra is at the northeastern slope of Jebel at-Muntar of the Palmyrene mountain chain at an altitude of 600m (cited). Dasmascus its 235km from Palmyra and Homs its 210lm from it, and 210km from Deiz. This mean that Palmyra is very close to the other cities were they were able to trade and do exchanges between these cities. Palmyra was also a caravan station between Syria and Mesopotamia. It was basically a city that served as a stopover for caravans making their way from Persian Gulf (Syria) to the Mediterranean. After the Roman invasion of Syria, it became a prosperous Roman colony. Merchants from all over the Eastern Empire they were able to travel and trade many good stuff like sprices, silks, glass, silver and some other objects.
Palmyryans bore Aramaic names, and they worshiped many God from Mesopotmia, Arabia, Syria, and Greece. They speak the language of western Aramaic, this language was the same as Nabataen

It rise up toward the mountains, it traces are still visivle south of the Afqa Spring. Palmyra has a city named “ Grand Colonnade” which consists of a main street that its around one kilometer long. This street has become the city’s axis.
In 2005, a polish team excavated at the Lat tmple and they discovered a stone statue of the winged God of victory. They also discovered a 1,200 year old church, which is one of the largest discovered in Syria. This was discover in an ancient town in Palmyra. It is one of the four churches discovered in Palmura. It is one of the biggest and its measurements are 47 meters by 27 meters whichs makes it one of the biggest churches ever found.
