The most immense ocean is the “The Pacific Ocean” and it covers about 30% of Earths’ surface. “Pacific” initially meant “Peaceful Sea.” The Pacific Ocean is home to the deepest known spot in the oceans, and it is named the Mariana trench. It is almost 7 miles deep. The Atlantic Ocean is the second most colossal ocean in the world and occupies 21% of the Earths surface. “Atlantic” refers to Greek mythology and means “atlas.” The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean and it blankets 14% of Earths’ exterior. The Earth’s elite oceans are the four most massive water basins on the planet.
